In our first-ever foray into smoked whiskey, Westwards bold single malt meets the delicate, earthy influence of peat. This innovative release blends Westward aged for 5.5 and 6 years in new American oak, then finished between 11 and 18 months in custom casks from Independent Stave Company that had been gently smoked over a peat fire.
Unlike peated Scotch, this whiskey takes a restrained approach. The peat presents as soft, earthy smoke with hints of dry herbs, offering balance and complexity without dominating the palate. The extra-long finishing process across multiple fill points allowed us to capture a dynamic range of flavorslayering in smoke, toasted oak, and subtle spice while preserving Westwards signature notes of citrus, roasted malt, and creamy vanilla.
This is a rare expression for us and one we crafted with intention. Its a fresh, approachable take on peat for novices and a nuanced delight for seasoned palates.
Crafted not to imitate, but to innovatethis smoked-cask whiskey is Westwards signature style, with a bold new twist.
Bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV)
