This single malt South Africas one and only – was launched in November 2003, with an offering of just 6 000 bottles which were sold out within six months. We know South African connoisseurs appreciate a good single malt, but we did not know how well they would react to one produced locally, says brand custodian Marcel Swain. Clearly there is a demand for first-class, affordable whisky, and what better way than to offer this exceptional single malt as part of a limited collectors edition.
Bottled at 43%ABV (Bottle size750ml)
Nose:Clean and sweet with sherry notes, hints of herbs, and liquorice. Aromatic and nutty with sugared almond hints. Lightly peated with a medicinal edge, but lacks distinct distillery character.
Palate:Gently sherried with a slightly leafy quality. Bold and mouthfilling with a piquant alcohol presence. Spicy with a touch of tannic grip.
Finish: Short and dry with lingering tannins. A decent sherried dram, though missing some unique distillery character.
