When one of the top critics in the world says a wine “clearly ranks with the crme de la crme of the vintage,” you dont want to miss out. Thats exactly what Jeb Dunnuck had to say about the Isabel Ferrando Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2021. This organically farmed wine is a real beauty, especially considering the challenges of the 2021 vintage. It delivers the classic power of atypical Chateauneuf, with a freshness and elegance that stand out. While more delicate than some of the robust options, it still packs the body and complexity you expect from a wine at this level. Its ready to enjoy tonight, but will also age beautifully over the next decadeso stock up while you can!

Critic Notes:

  • The 2021 Chteauneuf Du Pape clearly ranks with the crme de la crme of the vintage and has more depth, concentration, and texture than most. Black raspberries, Provenal herbs, ground pepper, and assorted spices define the aromatics, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a focused, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It’s not massive and plays in the elegant, fresher style of the vintage, but it’s utterly beguiling with its complexity and nuance. Drink bottles any time over the coming 10-15 years.” – 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
  • “Just a notch below the 2020, the 2021 Chteauneuf-du-Pape incorporates lively aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, forest strawberry, tomato leaf, licorice, dried thyme and a splash of mint. It is a medium to full-bodied red that’s rich and refined, framed by velvety tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is nice and long.” – 93 Points, Vinous
  • “Mouthcoating ripe fruit, the alcohol is high but it’s balanced out by the driving acidity. The tannins aren’t the finest, but it has concentration and thrust. Has the presence and power of a classic Chteauneuf, which can be lacking in this vintage. Long finish. This cuve replaces the three historical red cuves of the domaine (Classique, Auguste Favier and Charles Giraud). From the galets rouls of lieu-dit Les Serres, fermented in concrete, aged in concrete, old oak and amphora.” – 93 Points, Decanter
