Porta del Vento Catarratto 2022

Mid-weighted and wonderful textural, Porta del Vento’s Catarratto hails from elderly bush vines planted high on the sandy plains looking down on nearby Palermo. Emanatingan air of ‘Sicilian White Burgundy’ (more Mconnais than Chablis), the 2020 is packed with oodles of curdy citrus, stem ginger, white orchard fruit pulp, and a wonderful push/pull between lactic tang and salty mineral cut. A wine that deliver in spades for its fairly meager price point, and one of the very few still renditions of the Catarratto grape you will find with this much intrigue.

100% biodynamically cultivated Catarratto from 70 year old vines grown in the sandy soils high above the city of Monreale in northwest Sicily. Grapes are hand-harvested, directly pressed and spontaneously ferment and age sur lie for 6 months thereafter all in cement tank.
