Situated on the border of of Durango and Jalisco, the community that makes this mezcal, traditionally for local rituals, chooses to remain anonymous. The few bottles they are now sharing with the outside world are a rare treasure. Batch 1 is comes from 100% Cenizo agave processed by hand and distilled in clay pot stills. Total yield for this batch was 110 liters. The spirit is full bodied, rich and complex. The aromas are a heady mix of Douglas Fir, wild lime, walnut oil and cacao fruit, while the palate is a mix of savory and sweet with tastes of the orchard at the front and smoke and brined herbs on the finish.
