Ras Baixas is a DO wine zone in the Galicia region of northwestern Spain, located along the Atlantic coastline. It is best known for white wines made from the Albario grape variety.

This is a comparatively young DO, established in 1988). But Ras Baixas has rapidly grown in stature thanks to the efforts of its various enterprising producers, who have adopted modern winemaking techniques to showcase Albario.

Practically synonymous with the verdant pagoda-trained vineyards of coastal northwest Spain’s Ras Baixas wine region, Albario (Alvarinho) is a fresh, aromatic, hardy grape variety that has the potential to travel well, although this is only just being realised worldwide.
