Leopold Brosmaraschino liqueur is a blend of our montmorency cherry eau-de-vie and an eau-de-vie made from Croatian marasca cherries, along with some honey, which is a traditional element in classic maraschino liqueurs. The sugar content is kept low to maintain the spirits drier qualities. Although, the maraschino liqueur is sweet, is still manages to maintain a nice balance with the cherry blossom and dark cherry flavors resulting in something that is floral, sweet, and dry all at once.

In the tradition of fruit brandies, we start by macerating and fermenting small Marasca cherries from Croatia and distill the resulting cherry mash. We then add coriander and Montmorency cherry distillate and sweeten the blend with honey to create a soft and subtle liqueur with mild almond-like notes that are derived from the cherry pits.

Marasca cherries form the foundation of any true Maraschino Liqueur. Because we cannot obtain these cherries in the US, Todd Leopold had one of his old distilling friends ferment and distill these cherries for him, sending the floral marasca eau de vie to our distillery in Denver. We then add coriander and our own Montmorency cherry distillate and sweeten the blend with honey to create a soft and subtle liqueur with strong almond-like notes that are derived from the cherry pits. You will find the beauty of this liqueur in the nose when it adding it to classic cocktails.
