Glenmorangie’s 12yo Palo Cortado finish is the third release in the new Barrel Select Release series of small-batch single malts. Matured for 8 years in ex-bourbon casks, and then finished in Palo Cortado sherry casks for the remaining 4 years. Palo Cortado is a rare variety of sherry, created by chance when the protective flor yeast does not form on sherry intended to become Amontillado. Bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750ml.)

Nose: Rich, elegant and rounded. Toffee, fudge and vanilla sweetness with mulled wine. Then honeyed ginger and milk-chocolate truffle dusted with cinnamon.

Palate: An oily yet peppery texture, treacle toffee and milk chocolate with clove, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Raisins, dark plums and bitter orange with rye bread and salted nuts.

Finish: Long and nutty, brimming with spice, leather and a touch of aniseed.
