Launched in 2023 as the inaugural release in Glen Scotia’sIcons of Campbeltownseries. The first of five annual limited editions celebrating the Campbeltown community spirit, The Mermaid takes its inspiration from a historical mermaid carving located in Campbeltown Market Cross – a historic community meeting point for celebration and storytelling. This 12yo unpeated single malt was initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in Palo Cortado sherry casks for 8 months. The packaging was designed by renowned artist Joel Holtzman, known for his collaborations with Marvel, Disney, and Lucasfilm. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 54.1%.

Nose:A rich and mellow nose, slightly nose-drying. The top notes are maritime (salt crystals, boat varnish, edible seaweed). Beneath these is a thick, fruity note (tarte tatin, glazed French apple tart; a suggestion of Dundee Seville marmalade). Becoming tablet toffee as it develops.

Palate:A creamy texture, with an overall lightly sweet, centre palate, taste, and a pinch of salt in mid-palate.

Finish:Long and warming at natural strength, with a savoury aftertaste. A little water introduces a spicy note to the finish
