Champagne Extra Brut is the AOC title for one of the driest forms of the world’s most famous sparkling wine. The wines may have no more than 6 grams per liter of Residual sugar. Between zero and 3g/L, the term overlaps with ‘Brut Nature.

Reflecting an overall shift in preferences towards drier wines, Extra Brut and Brut Nature wines have become much more common in recent decades. Many smaller growers who began bottling their own wines over the same period are focussing on these styles.
