Aubert Eastside Vineyard Chardonnay Russian River 2022
Aubert Eastside Russian River Chardonnay 2022 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard white wine from Sonoma County, California. Aubert is a boutique Chardonnay and Pinot Noir estate that produces wine from single-vineyard sites in Napa Valley and Sonoma. Founded by husband-and-wife Mark and Teresa Aubert in 1999, it is regarded to be one of Californias cult wine labels. Eastside is Auberts only Chardonnay expression from the Russian River AVA, but it is notable for producing powerful yet delicately elegant wines. Producer note.
“The 2022 Eastside is both exotic and grounded, opening with complex gravelly, flinty tones that are the calling card of this special, rocky site. Passionfruit gelee and feijoa frame Eastsides classic mineral tones, along with subtle white pepper spice and blanched almond. The wine finishes with a mouthwatering acidity that promises a long, healthy life in the cellar for 10 to 15 years or more. The wine is slightly hazy showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.”
Critical Acclaim
96 Wine Advocate
Scents of toasted hazelnuts, crushed stone, pear and tangerine appear on the nose of the 2022 Chardonnay Eastside, from a chert-rich Windsor vineyard planted in 2006 to a Montrachet selection. It’s full-bodied, generous and plush without being weighty, then intense and crisp on the lemon-lime finish, with echoes reminiscent of white pepper and ginger. Matured in 68% new heavy-toast French oak, it has absorbed those flavors admirably.

The 2022 Chardonnay Eastside Vineyard is a complex, racy wine. Oily and viscous, with a touch of reduction, the Eastside is a wonderfully complex, layered wine. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint, ripe pear and a kiss of French oak abound. This is a stellar Chardonnay from Mark Aubert.
