The Bodegas y Viedos Artazu ‘Santa Cruz de Artazu’ Tinto is the result of unique Garnacha grapes from small vineyards scattered throughout Artazu, a haven of winemaking history. These centuries-old vineyards grow on calcareous silt soils that create the most special expression of this spot in the Valdizarbe Valley. In Artazu, the continental pre-Pyrenean climate combines with the Atlantic influence of the Cantabrian Sea, giving this town a unique climate. At the winery, after malolactic fermentation in barrel the wine is matured in 500 lite French oak barrels for 12 months. The finished wine displays notes of red fruit and cherries, floral aromas such as lavender, and hints of scrubland. A powerful expression extracted from these limestone soils.
