Grapes for the Alois Lageder Pinot Noir come from selected vineyards in Pochi and Appiano, within the South Tyrol region of the IGT Vigneti delle Dolomiti. Alto Adige is one of the few growing regions in Italy that offers very good conditions for the Pinot Noir grape, which flourishes in the cool, well-aerated locations. The vines are cultivated organically and biodynamically and are all hand-harvested. At the winery fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to retain the purity of fruit. The wine was then matured in a combination of concrete vessels and casks for approximately 12 months, before being gently prepared for bottling. This is a charming Pinot Noir showing excellent typicity, with fresh aromas of red berries, cherry and mineral overtones through to a silky palate with gentle tannins and a touch of spice on the finish.
