4 Pack – Forest – Produced from Loureiro and Pedera grapes grown in the granitic soils of the Vinho Verde region, the Santola (or as we here are calling it, “the crab wine”) is a delicious, spritely and refreshing white. It doesn’t get much more traditional, thirst-quenching or seasonally perfect then this wine. Delicious, low in alcohol, slightly fizzy and way too easy to drink!
Gramona Gessami 2018 – What strikes many as an usual blend is fairly common in Penedes aromatic whites made from a blend of northern and indigenous varieties. In the case of Gessami, it is a blend of the native Muscat (both Frontignan and dAlexandrie are grown by Gramona), and the non-native but heat tolerant Gewrztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. Well over half of the blend is Sauvignon Blanc, which provides both the body and acidity and depending on the vintage, either one or both varieties of Muscat are used in addition to a small proportion of Gewrztraminer to boost the aromatics. Such a floral and alluring wine is fittingly named Gessami, which in English means Jasmine.
La Tunella Sauvignon Blanc Friuli 2017 – A distinctive style of Sauvignon Blanc with characteristic Friulian weight and finesse. The Zorzettig family have run this winery in Friuli’s Eastern hills (Colli Orientali) since the 1960s. In 1991, they replaced many vines with classic, international varieties and introduced a brand new winery. The results were spectacular! Their Sauvignon is floral and fresh with ripe melon notes and a long, delicate minerality.
Ollieux Romanis Corbieres Classique Blanc 2014 – Pale yellow in the glass, with white flowers and citrus on the nose. This charming wine is light on the palate with soft notes of tropical fruits. Well balanced with bright acidity.
