This release was nicknamed the ‘Double-Dark’ by members of the PLOWED Society. The understanding is that these releases were produced by diluting the strength of the regular 12 year old by using under-proof casks of 30-36 year old whisky from the legendary 1960s vintages, giving the whisky its dark color.
