Grner Veltliner from a south-facing parcel in the Kreutles vineyard near the village of Unterloiben. Lower on the slope with soils of sandy loess with Gneiss components, vines average 25 years. The name of the vineyard refers to the undergrowth that had to be removed to cultivate the area. Vinified in stainless steel and old oak cask, aged 9 months on lees.

Aromas of lemon, green apple, Mirabelle plum, with hints of flint, wet stone, flower on the nose. Great concentration and rich texture, balanced fruit/mineral/floral notes, fresh acidity, soft on the finish with notes of grapefruit.

Emmerich Knolls (pronounced with a hard K) family has been producing wines in the village of Unterloiben in the Wachau region of Austria for three generations in tandem with running the 400 year old Loibnerhof Familie Knoll restaurant in the town of Durstein. Its a family affair.

Weingut Emmerich Knoll is a third-generation winery, farming 15 hectares of vines in the heart of the Wachau in Austria. Their Gruner Veltliner and Riesling grow on steep, terraced vineyards, producing legendary cuves, deemed some of the best expressions of Riesling & GV in the world.
